…and I am on the fence about it. I know I am kinda late on this. And for those that had already seen it, excuse me, lol. I heard about it not too long ago and never got around to going to see it, but…
I am personally an individualist, though I am not a relativist. I believe that while there are objective truths, you should allow (being the key word) people to believe what they want to. That may seem strange. Yeah, I know. And as a philosophy major, that may seem damn near irrational. But there is no way to decipher in this imperfect world, so we have to just work with what we have. There is no way to right every single wrong, so who is to decide which wrongs are to be righted? Are they the one’s that only effect us? Are they the one’s that are the most visible? Who knows.
At times, it seemed like Bill Maher was talking to some of the people he interviewed like they were complete idiots. And most of the people were really respectful and kind. That’s the part that bothered me. There are ways, and then there are ways. Maher was very funny at times, yes, but at the expense of people that really had good intentions. Like the man in the religious store. That really, REALLY pulled at my heart strings. I am just like that, though. I am a wimp for really nice, sincere people, lol.
I will not offer my religious input, because that is not important, but I will say, it is worth seeing by all sides, because at least, despite your opinions about organized religion, it makes you think.
